A Clean Mop Ensures A Clean Floor
For those who love to keep things clean, the cleaning equipment need to be clean too. It is important to keep your broom and mops clean as the dirt in them will spread all around when used. Though it may seem unnecessary, it is important to keep them clean, which requires a clean-up at least from time to time.
Here are some tips to keep your mop clean at all times:
- Once you are done mopping the floor, ensure you wash or at least rinse the mop in clean water
- Once rinsed, put the mop out in the open to air dry. Keeping them locked up in a closed place will not only make room for bacteria and fungus to grow, but will also stink up the place
- Use a detergent or a little of the floor cleaning liquid to clean the mop. This need not be done every day but try to rinse it this way every other day. Take a bucket of clean water, mix in the floor cleaner or any other cleaner, swirl the mop in this solution for a while. Next, take it out and give it a good squeeze, before you rinse it in clean water. This will get rid of all the dirt on the mop. If needed, repeat the process, until you see clean water running, when you rinse the mop.
- If you have not cleaned the mop for a while, it will require more extensive cleaning. You can even steam mops for deep clean. This will help loosen up the dirt and slime that have been clinging to and building up in the mop. Just ensure you don’t steam it with any other items.
A mop will definitely change color once you start using it. However, if your mop is too dirty looking or gives away a foul smell, cleaning it up is a must!
